Aspen Institute Guide Links Labor Outcomes and Education
Aspen Institute Guide
The Aspen Institute's College Excellence Program recently released a guide designed to advance the use of labor market data among community colleges.

"
A Guide for Using Labor Market Data to Improve Student Success" offers concrete examples of how five community colleges have used labor market data to assess educational programs, better align them with employment opportunities, and advise students. In addition, the guide describes six specific data sources that colleges can access today to understand relevant labor market demands as well as the potential employment/earning outcomes of their graduates.

Ready Your College for the Next Round of U.S. DOL Grants
Jane Oates, the U.S. Department of Labor's Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training, announced that the next round of TAAACCT grants will be released in April. The $2-billion, four-year TAAACCT program funds community colleges that develop job training partnerships with local employers. Prior winners were applications from the Central Valley and the East Bay regions.

Can Your Region Benefit from an iHub to Spur Innovation
California iHubs
The Governor's Office on Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) is announced the expansion of the State's Innovation Hub (iHub) Program. California's iHub program was launched in 2010 in an effort to harness and enhance California's innovative spirit. With this RFP, GO-Biz plans to continue building upon the success of what is the largest in-state innovation network. The iHubs improve the State's national and global competitiveness by stimulating partnerships, economic development, and job creation around specific research clusters through state-designated iHubs.
Regions interested in joining California's 12 iHubs to promote long term economic growth and job creation through innovation should apply. Applications are due April 26th.
